You reach out to suppliers and subs to validate pricing, partner with project and construction managers to clarify requirements, and shape a proposal that communicates cost, assumptions, and schedule with precision. Throughout the project lifecycle, you watch actuals versus estimate, flag variances, and recommend adjustments that protect margin.What you’ll doInterpret project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to define scope and deliverables.Build itemized estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services for welding and fabrication projects.Collaborate with project/construction managers, engineers, and clients to clarify requirements and align on execution.Recommend materials and welding techniques appropriate to tolerance, quality, and cost targets.Develop and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships to secure competitive quotes.Prepare clear, templated estimates and client-facing proposals; present and explain assumptions.Track costs and provide budget updates to keep projects on target.Assist in schedule creation and update; enter data into our Deltek Vision business system for tracking.Keep accurate estimate, proposal, and project files on corporate drives using our corporate filing structure.Continuously refine estimating processes to minimize gaps between forecast and actuals.Identify cost and execution options that improve project profitability.Work closely with the machining estimator to evaluate in-house versus outsourced part strategies.What you bringExperience estimating in a welding/fabrication shop or a closely related environment.Deep familiarity with welding processes, materials, and fabrication workflows.Fluency reading drawings, blueprints, and specifications.Strong math, analysis, and detail orientation; able to juggle multiple concurrent quotes.Clear communicator and collaborator; comfortable with clients and cross-functional partners.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.PreferredWelding or fabrication certifications.CAD experience.Knowledge of industry codes and standards.Compensation & benefitsThe base hourly rate for this position is $40.00 – $60.00 per hour. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans. The Company offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, and other benefits.Where you’ll workThis is an onsite role in our Rochester, NY shop, working closely with teammates across the facility.
