Currently, our Columbia, South Carolina office is seeking a Workers' Compensation Paralegal who will assist the attorney by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, fact checking; and trial preparation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conduct research to support legal proceedings; Assist with the drafting and reviewing legal documents, document preparation and correspondence, file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures; Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items; Investigate facts to help in the negotiation of legal disputes, research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys; Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations Gather and analyze intake information and documentation, such as medical records, bills, etc.; record and store client information; Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects as needed; Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements; Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases; maintain Firm billable hours standards; Adhere to the Firms Code of Ethics, company policies, and operating principles Requirements: The ideal candidate takes pride in their work product, and possesses the following qualities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software A self-starter who takes initiative to complete daily tasks Preferred Skills/Experience: Ideal experience 1+ years as a Paralegal Experience in Workers' Compensation within North Carolina and experience communicating with Insurance Adjusters is preferred What we offer: The firm offers a competitive compensation plan, as well as a full suite of benefits.
