Salary Minimum Salary: $164,048.00 Maximum Salary: $277,446.00 Location & Travel Main Office – Greer Building, 125 E 11th Street, Austin, 78701 Travel: Yes, approximately 10% of the time Work Schedule Shift: Day Hours: 40 per week Location Flexibility: Onsite – TxDOT utilizes flexible work strategies consistent with department policy and business needs. Responsibilities Advise the Executive Director on merits of programs, appropriation of resources, transportation issues, and agency programs and policies. Plan, assign, and supervise the work of others. Provide direction on implementation of the strategic plan and goals, objectives, priorities, and communication efforts; coordinate and evaluate program activities. Offer guidance and assistance in functional and program areas, including change initiatives. Represent the agency at business meetings, hearings, trials, legislative sessions, conferences, and seminars; serve on boards, panels, and committees. Develop and evaluate policies; create and review guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations; monitor compliance. Hire and oversee the Director of the Commission Support Section of Administration and manage the ADM Executive Assistants assigned to Chiefs. Perform additional job responsibilities as assigned. 5 years of progressively responsible management or executive‑level experience in transportation, government/public sector, public administration, strategic operations, or a related business field. Graduate‑level education may substitute experience on a year‑for‑year basis. At least 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience. Preferred Experience 10 years of direct experience in the transportation and government/public sector. 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience strongly preferred. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license – required to operate a state vehicle. Knowledge of government programs and operations affecting transportation development. Understanding of the legislative process. Ability to communicate vision and direction clearly and effectively. Skill in establishing plans, setting objectives and goals that support overall business strategy, and anticipating and adjusting for problems. Capability to interpret and analyze legislation, rules, and regulations. Strong communication of complex ideas and information. Leadership that fosters collaborative relationships and supports quality management and performance measures to provide the highest quality products and services. Management of financial and personnel resources to achieve organizational goals. Collaboration and cooperation with internal and external partners to accomplish organizational objectives. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools. Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs. Standing for prolonged periods.
