Technical Manager – Fiber Laser (R&D)
Technical Manager needed to lead the Fiber Laser group following the promotion of Jeff Nicholson. This role combines team leadership with hands-on technical work in a highly R&D-focused environment.
What you’ll do
- Lead the fiber laser R&D team and set technical direction
- Own end-to-end development: design, build, test, and analysis
- Drive experimental design, measurement strategy, and data interpretation
- Execute and guide research programs from concept through validation
- Collaborate across teams and mentor engineers while staying technically involved
What we’re looking for
- 8–15 years of experience with high-power fiber lasers or optical systems
- Strong background in hands-on testing, measurement, and analysis
- Proven ability to lead and execute research programs
- Prior team leadership or mentorship experience
Education
- PhD preferred with publications and applied research experience
- MS considered with strong relevant industry experience
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working in the lab, and leading from the front in an R&D setting.
