Employment Type: Part-Time | 20–25 hours/week (20 hours/week guaranteed)

Schedule: Monday–Friday daytime hours, 4-5 hours/day

Compensation: $35–$40/hour, based on experience

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free & fragrance-free environment
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to drive is a plus but not required (access to a family vehicle is available for work use)
• Comfortable navigating multiple flights of stairs throughout the day
• Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including influenza, tetanus, and measles), subject to applicable legal accommodations
• Comfortable working alongside children and a dog

About Our Family

We are a warm, busy, and down-to-earth family of four living in a three-story Brooklyn brownstone with our two children, ages 2 and 5, and our beloved elderly dog. Both of us work in demanding roles and work often doesn't fully wind down until later in the day. We have a nanny who provides regular childcare, so we're looking for someone whose primary focus is the household and all of the things that keep it running behind the scenes.

We're relaxed and easygoing at home, and we value kindness, respect, flexibility, and teamwork. We want those who work in our home to feel like part of our team. Organization and household management are not our natural strengths, and we're ready to hand that off to someone who genuinely enjoys it. We're looking for someone we can trust, communicate openly with, and work alongside for the long-term.

You're also a confident, capable cook who enjoys meal prep and feels comfortable taking the lead in the kitchen.

You're comfortable being part of a household team while understanding that everyone has their own role, including the family's nanny. Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization

• Create and maintain household organization systems
• Daily resets and prep home for weekly cleaners
• Light tidying, including putting away dishes, wiping down surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas
• Seasonal swaps of clothing, décor, bedding
• Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
• Holiday/guest prep (linens and towels washed and setup for guests)
• Unpacking from travel

Meal Planning & Prep

• Fully cook dinners for children 5x/week and for adults 3x/week
• Prep school lunches 5x/week
• Grocery shopping for recipe ingredients and pantry staples
• Kitchen clean-up and maintenance
• Adhere to household allergies/dietary needs

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
• Manage running household supply lists
• Handle returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping
• Mail and package handling, especially sorting of mail
• Shredding items
• Breakdown of boxes

Laundry & Linen Care

• Wash, fold, and organize laundry for adults
• Linen rotation
• Maintain a tidy and well stocked laundry area

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

• Travel planning and logistics
• Calendar management, including awareness of household schedules
• School administrative tasks like signing up for kid's activities, completing forms, etc.

Family Support & Child Assistance

• Pick-ups from school as needed (i.e. Nanny is sick)
• Back-up childcare as needed
• Prep backpacks, clothing, snacks as needed
• Kid-related errands
• Weekend evening babysitting/overnight stays a plus

Pet Care

• Vet scheduling
• Coordinating dog-boarding for travel
• Maintain pet supplies
• Let the dog out as needed throughout the day

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Communicate with the property management team when household issues arise
• Coordinate minor maintenance needs to property management team such as battery replacements, light bulbs, and smoke detectors

Vehicle Management

• Schedule maintenance
• Track registration and insurance
• Fueling, cleaning, and organizing of vehicle as needed

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Occasional deep cleans of fridge, oven, and baseboards
• Refresh kitchen, shoe zone, and heavy traffic rooms
• Clean humidifiers and air purifiers as needed
