Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a dynamic medical-surgical environment. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and certifications to provide high-quality patient care while adhering to protocols and best practices.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a medical-surgical setting.
• Experience with telemetry, remote monitoring, and managing dysrhythmias.
• Proficient in the use of Rapid Response Teams.
• Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and colostomy care.
• Expertise in feeding tube care & management.
• Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management and blood product administration experience.
• Central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, and phlebotomy skills.
• PICC line management and starting IVs competencies.
• Experience with Heparin, PCA, and chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac).
• Ability to perform non-invasive airway management and oral suctioning.
• Familiarity with oxygen delivery systems and isolation precautions.
• Wound care, including Wound Vac management.

Certifications: BCLS required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in MS/Tele and telemetry monitoring.
• Management of dysrhythmias and understanding of CVA protocols.
• Proficient in accessing ports and interpreting ABGs.
• Experience with tracheostomy management.
• Familiarity with the EPIC documentation system.

Work Environment

Contract staff may be assigned to work within Storm Teams and/or Hurricane Teams and could be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. There may also be a need for consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract, with potential reassignments as needed.

Scheduling and Orientation

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6.
• Shifts are 12 hours, primarily nights, with options for 36 or 48-hour work weeks, and a commitment of 13-26 weeks.
• RTO allowed is a maximum of 7 days; floating between units is required.
• Weekend shifts required are 12-16 per contract.
• Orientation includes a 24-hour unit orientation followed by a hospital orientation in the first week, where travelers must be available for daily classes.

Patient Population

Typical patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures. The unit also has an isolation area designated for COVID-19 patients, with multi-level care that includes step-down units.

Dress Code

Standard scrubs required are navy and white.

Additional Requirements

All nursing staff must pass EKG testing prior to commencement in this specialty.
