JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position summary: Applies standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.Compensation for this position is $95,000.00 - $130,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.Essential functions and responsibilitiesReview and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulationsPerforms routine tests on concrete, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codesCoordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standardsWork on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issuesGathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsInteract with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiriesLead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.Nonessential functions and responsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired skillsStrong computer proficiencyMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningRequired experienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.4+ years of Construction Inspection ExperienceMust possess at least one of the following certifications:Commercial Electrical Inspector (International Code Council-ICC)Master Electrician License in State of MarylandNICET Certification as Level II Electrical Power Testing (NICET)Fire Alarm Systems-Associate Engineering Technician (NICET Level II)Commercial Fire Alarm Inspector (International Code Council-ICC)Must possess Non-Governmental Electrical Inspector certification from MD State Office of Fire Marshal (or achieve certification within 6 months from NTP).Preferred experienceAssociates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil EngineeringSupervisory experience in construction management/inspection situationsAbility to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge roleWorking conditionsWork is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
