Grant Coordinator/Editor - Department of Surgery

Role Overview The Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks a Grant Coordinator/Editor to support the Editorial and Grant Services team in advancing research and academic productivity throughout the grant lifecycle and publishing. Responsibilities Support end-to-end grant activity for Principal Investigators, including preparation, coordination, and editorial support. Identify peer‑reviewed funding opportunities and match them with suitable applicants, ensuring timely proposal submission and accurate follow‑up. Coordinate, edit, and submit federal, foundation, and MSK internal grant applications, as well as grant progress reports. Assist with execution and coordination of industry contracts. Editing, formatting, and submitting manuscripts, journal articles, abstracts, and related academic correspondence. Coordinate final review and submission of all sponsored research materials to ensure compliance with funding agency and institutional guidelines. Work closely with faculty and stakeholders to interpret and explain funding requirements, support brainstorming and proposal development activities. Provide logistical and editorial support for research conference planning. Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree preferred). 3–5 years of grant management experience required, including NIH and/or Department of Defense (DoD) grants. Demonstrated experience coordinating and submitting complex grant applications. Strong project management experience. Medical or scientific editing experience strongly preferred. Strong collaboration and relationship‑building skills, with a customer‑service mindset. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Proven ability to prioritize deadlines simultaneously. Sound judgment and problem‑solving skills, especially in situations without clear outcomes. Proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges. Additional Information Department: Surgery – Editorial and Grant Services. Schedule: Hybrid, Monday–Friday 37.5 hours. Location: 1275 York Ave, NY, NY. Reporting to: Leadership within the Department of Surgery / Editorial and Grant Services team. Compensation and Benefits Pay Range: $77,100.00 – $119,400.00 (FSLA Exempt).
