Job Title: Process Operator Job Description

The Process Operator plays a key role in a GMP- and HACCP-certified food manufacturing facility by safely mixing raw materials, monitoring and adjusting processing equipment, and supporting filling and packaging operations. This position combines hands-on batch mixing with control-board monitoring, equipment troubleshooting, and accurate documentation to ensure high-quality, consistent production in a clean, regulated environment.

• Mix batches of raw materials into large drums to initiate the liquidation process, following established procedures and specifications.
• Lift and pour 30 lb buckets of raw material into drums safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Monitor the process through product and steam lines, ensuring steady flow and correct operating parameters.
• Stand at a control board to observe system monitors and indicators, responding promptly to any abnormal conditions.
• Troubleshoot process issues by adjusting steam levels and other parameters to maintain optimal performance.
• Open and close valves on process lines by hand to regulate flow and temperature as needed.
• Record operating conditions, adjustments, and activities in a log book at the control board every 10–15 minutes.
• Operate filling, labeling, and packaging equipment safely and efficiently in the fill room when assigned.
• Package finished products according to customer and company specifications, ensuring correct fill, labeling, and packaging.
• Monitor fill weights, product quality, and packaging integrity to meet quality and safety standards.
• Perform line changeovers, equipment setup, and basic adjustments to support different products and packaging formats.
• Inspect packaging materials for defects and promptly report any quality concerns to the appropriate team members.
• Maintain accurate production, inventory, and batch records in line with documentation requirements.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, food safety, and sanitation procedures at all times to ensure product safety and regulatory compliance.
• Keep the fill room and production areas clean, organized, and free of hazards to support safe, efficient operations.
• Assist with material handling, including moving materials, palletizing finished goods, and preparing shipments.
• Collaborate closely with production, quality, and warehouse teams to meet daily production goals and resolve issues quickly.
• Work assigned shifts and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) as part of the regular production schedule.

• At least 2 years of machine operation or similar production experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with documentation, recordkeeping, or batch records.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting process and equipment issues.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Attention to detail in monitoring equipment, recording data, and following procedures.
• Comfort working with production processes such as mixing, batch making, and food production.
• Ability to follow established procedures, including GMP, HACCP, and food safety guidelines.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to operate and adjust production and packaging equipment safely.

• Previous experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with production or packaging equipment is an asset.
• Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
• Background in mechanical maintenance or equipment upkeep is beneficial.
• Experience in general labor, production, or operating roles in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong documentation skills for production, inventory, and batch records.
• Ability to work consistently on a set schedule, including every other weekend.

This role is based in a GMP- and HACCP-certified food manufacturing facility that maintains a very clean and organized production environment. You will work primarily in the processing department and fill room, where the area can become warm and may carry the smell of the products being processed, such as soy. The position follows a three-shift schedule: 1st shift from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 3rd shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with shift premiums for second and third shifts. You must be able to work every other weekend, typically on Saturdays and some Sundays, aligned with your assigned shift. The environment requires compliance with food safety attire, including wearing hair and beard nets as applicable, along with company-issued uniforms and/or lab coats, to maintain strict hygiene and safety standards.

This is a Permanent position based out of Saline, MI.

The pay range for this position is $37752.00 - $37752.00/yr.
