Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Lead a team of flight software engineers through the full software development lifecycleArchitect, design, develop, and deliver high-reliability flight software for embedded and edge computing platforms using C++Provide day-to-day technical direction, work prioritization, and mentorship to team members; foster a culture of engineering excellence and accountabilityDefine and enforce software architecture standards, coding practices, and design patterns for mission-critical systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, GNC, avionics, and mission operations to translate system requirements into robust software solutionsConduct design reviews and code reviews; ensure technical quality and mission assurance across deliverablesSupport integration and test activities, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testingIdentify and mitigate technical risks; drive root cause analysis and resolution of complex software anomaliesCoordinate with program management to communicate status, risks, and resource needsContribute to proposal efforts and technical documentation in support of national security programsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field7+ years of professional experience in embedded software developmentStrong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systemsExperience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)Experience with microcontroller peripherals (ADC, DAC, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelinesKnowledge of software development for mission-critical systemsPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fieldExperience with embedded Linux development and YoctoExperience leading software technical teamsKnowledge of communication protocols used in spacecraft systemsExperience with bare-metal programming for microcontrollersWhy Blue OriginAt Blue Origin, you'll be part of a historic endeavor to expand humanity's presence in space.
