Job Title: Laboratory Technician - Diagnostic Calibration MaterialsJob Description This role supports the production of calibration materials used in diagnostic medical equipment for hospitals and clinics. You will work in a regulated laboratory environment, preparing solutions, operating analytical instruments, and ensuring all products meet strict quality and regulatory standards. Responsibilities + Apply analytical and scientific methods to perform daily laboratory tasks, including accurate pipetting and operation of DXI800 and DXI19000 instruments. + Set up, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot reagent components and laboratory instruments to ensure consistent and reliable performance. + Prepare and test solutions, including measuring pH, conductivity, and density, to verify adherence to production and process specifications. + Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all steps in the process of making calibrators and related materials. + Ensure compliance with FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable regulatory requirements in all laboratory activities. + Perform functional testing on analytical assays and interpret data to confirm that products meet defined specifications. + Document laboratory activities accurately, including test results, calibrations, and any deviations, in accordance with quality and regulatory standards. + Support non-conformance investigations and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) by gathering data, performing testing, and assisting with root cause analysis. + Assist with scheduling of laboratory activities and contribute to inventory management for reagents, buffers, and other laboratory materials. + Work independently to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot issues, and seek out information or guidance when needed. + Participate in cross-training opportunities to learn additional processes and support broader team capabilities. + Contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment by following safety procedures and maintaining clean work areas. Essential Skills + Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field. + At least 3 months of laboratory experience, which may include academic or internship experience. + Demonstrated ability to follow and articulate experience working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). + Ability to work independently, as confirmed by prior references or work history. + Strong initiative and willingness to seek out answers and solve problems proactively. + Foundational wet-lab skills, including accurate pipetting and solution preparation. + Ability to perform analytical measurements such as pH, conductivity, and density testing. + Capability to operate laboratory instruments and perform basic troubleshooting. + Comfort working in a regulated manufacturing or production environment. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both laboratory work and documentation. + Basic computer skills for data entry, data analysis, and use of laboratory software. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on pipetting experience beyond academic coursework. + Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). + Familiarity with FDA Quality System Regulations (QSR) or similar quality systems. + Experience with DXI800 and DXI19000 or comparable diagnostic instruments. + Exposure to non-conformance investigations and CAPA processes. + Experience in chemistry-based laboratory environments. + Interest in cross-training and expanding skills across multiple laboratory processes. + Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and clearly document work. + Enthusiasm for contributing to products that support complex biomedical testing. Work Environment This position is on second shift, working Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. You will work in a regulated manufacturing and production environment focused on diagnostic and biomedical products. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent on hands-on laboratory work, such as making buffers, preparing materials, pipetting, running analytical tests, and performing functional testing on calibrators, all while following detailed SOPs. The remaining 30% of your time will involve activities such as addressing non-conformances, supporting CAPAs, scheduling tasks, managing inventory, and performing computer-based data analysis to ensure specifications are met. The main laboratory is chemistry-focused, well-equipped, and designed for direct labor lab work that requires a high degree of independence. The broader campus environment includes walking trails and a lakeside setting, with convenient access to nearby shops and restaurants and a reasonable commute from a major metropolitan area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.58 - $27.37/hr.
