MoonRunners Saloon is looking for a passionate, hands-on Sous Chef to join our leadership team. We are a high-volume, Southern-inspired restaurant known for scratch-made food, exceptional hospitality, and a team-first culture.

This is not a position for someone who wants to stand on the sidelines. We're looking for a working chef who leads by example, isn't afraid to jump on the line during the rush, and takes pride in developing people while delivering consistently outstanding food.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and inspire Prep Cooks and Line Cooks throughout each shift.
• Ensure recipes, portioning, plating, and quality standards are executed consistently.
• Work every station when needed, including grill, saut, fry, flat top, and expo.
• Maintain exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Monitor inventory, rotate product using FIFO, and minimize waste.
• Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and cooked according to food safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen.
• Communicate effectively with the Front-of-House management team to ensure smooth service.
• Assist with scheduling, training, inventory, ordering, and labor management.
• Address guest concerns professionally and help create memorable dining experiences.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable kitchen culture.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or experienced Lead Line Cook.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Experience in high-volume, full-service restaurants.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Knowledge of food costing, inventory control, and kitchen operations.
• ServeSafe Manager Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet throughout the shift.

Our Story: Born on the national TV show Bar Rescue, MoonRunners is a prohibition-themed bar and restaurant offering American fare with a twist of southern and the World's Largest Moonshine Menu. With an amazing team culture, we have employees that have been with us since day 1 and that was over 15 years ago. Conveniently located at 21 Technology Drive Garner NC, and in Dunn, NC we serve guests from all over the triangle and surrounding areas. We are very proud people from out of state regularly come to visit with us. We are looking for an experienced Cook to join our growing team! You will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes for restaurant guests to enjoy.
