Payroll Lead

Position: Payroll Lead

Role: Direct Hire

Pay: $55 65k

Location: Tampa, FL: Hybrid 3 days in office per week

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and support high-volume payroll for a large, multi-state employee population.
• Ensure payroll is accurate, timely, and compliant with federal, state, and local requirements.
• Research and resolve multi-state payroll tax and compliance issues.
• Stay current on changes to state payroll laws, tax regulations, and withholding requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex payroll discrepancies and work with internal teams to resolve issues.
• Manage and review payroll tax information across multiple jurisdictions and tax IDs.
• Use advanced Excel for payroll reporting, reconciliations, audits, and analysis.
• Serve as a senior resource to the payroll team on complex payroll matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and compliance.
• Work closely with payroll leadership on escalations and special projects.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of corporate payroll experience.
• Hands-on experience with multi-state payroll taxes AND payroll laws/regulations.
• Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees.
• Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax compliance.
• Advanced Excel skills formulas, PivotTables, lookups, reporting, and reconciliations.
• Ability to research and interpret different state payroll laws and regulations.
• Comfortable handling complex payroll issues independently.
