ABOUT MILTRONICS INC.

Since 1999, Miltronics has repaired and re-engineered the power and control electronics that keep critical infrastructure running. We work on elevators and escalators, industrial motor drives, UPS systems, EV chargers and solar inverters. Our Clifton, NJ facility handles component-level repair of circuit boards, drives, encoders and power conversion equipment. We also build UL-508A certified control panels and engineer retrofit upgrades for aging systems.

Many of the boards we repair are obsolete or no longer supported by the original manufacturer. We keep an extensive library of field wiring diagrams, and our team reverse-engineers and captures schematics in-house, so we can repair equipment others can't. Customers send it to us because replacement isn't an option or would cost far more than repair. We've built our reputation on fixing what others can't, and on standing behind every repair with real load testing before it ships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

\n

\n

Diagnosis & Repair

\n

• Diagnose failures at the component level on control boards, motor drives (VFD/servo), encoders, UPS systems, EV chargers (Level 2 and DC fast) and solar/battery inverters

\n

• Reverse-engineer boards and contribute to our in-house schematic capture library

\n

• Repair power stages, including IGBT and SiC modules, MOSFETs, gate drivers, DC-link capacitors, rectifiers, pre-charge circuits, contactors and relays

\n

• Troubleshoot switch-mode power supplies, isolated gate drive circuits, feedback loops and protection circuits

\n

• Diagnose communication and control faults (CAN, Modbus, RS-485, Ethernet-based protocols, OCPP for EV chargers)

\n

• Identify failure root causes, not just failed parts, and flag recurring failure modes

\n

Soldering & Rework

\n

• Perform through-hole and SMT soldering, rework and component replacement to IPC workmanship standards

\n

• Rework fine-pitch components (QFP, QFN, SOIC, 0402 passives) using hot air, preheaters and rework stations

\n

• Remove and replace high-thermal-mass power components on heavy-copper and multilayer boards

\n

• Repair damaged traces, pads and vias; apply and remove conformal coating

\n

Testing & Validation

\n

• Function-test and load-test repaired units on test stands before return to customers

\n

• Use oscilloscopes (including high-voltage differential and current probes), DMMs, LCR meters, curve tracers/ASA testers, insulation resistance testers, programmable power supplies and electronic loads

\n

• Verify isolation, insulation resistance and safety performance on high-voltage equipment

\n

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

\n

• Document failure analysis, repair actions and test results in our repair tracking system

\n

• Build and maintain repair procedures and failure-mode knowledge for recurring board types

\n

• Recommend improvements to test fixtures, test stands and repair workflows

\n

• Help source obsolete or hard-to-find components and identify suitable cross-references

\n

Safety & Workspace

\n

• Follow lockout/tagout, discharge verification and high-voltage safety procedures on every unit

\n

• Maintain an organized, ESD-safe workstation

\n

• Collaborate with engineers and technicians on difficult repairs, retrofit projects and panel builds

\n

\n

WHAT YOU BRING

\n

\n

Required

\n

\n

• 3+ years of hands-on, component-level electronics repair experience (industrial, power electronics, military or similar)

\n

• Ability to troubleshoot effectively when schematics or documentation are limited or unavailable

\n

• Strong working knowledge of power electronics: rectifiers, DC bus, inverter topologies, SMPS and gate drive circuits

\n

• Advanced through-hole and SMT soldering and rework skills

\n

• Confident use of oscilloscopes, DMMs and standard bench test equipment

\n

• Proven safe work practices on high-voltage AC/DC equipment (up to 1000V+ DC), including discharge verification and isolation testing

\n

• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and datasheets

\n

• Technical diploma, associate degree, or military/industry training in electronics, or equivalent hands-on experience

\n

• Strong attention to detail and the discipline to document your work

\n

Preferred

\n

• Current IPC certification: J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC-7711/7721

\n

• NFPA 70E or equivalent electrical safety training

\n

• Experience repairing VFDs, servo drives, UPS systems, EV chargers or solar/battery inverters

\n

• Elevator/escalator controls experience

\n

• Schematic capture experience (KiCad, Altium, OrCAD or similar)

\n

• Military electronics training (avionics, radar, power systems or similar)

\n

• Experience with curve tracers/ASA (Huntron or similar) for unpowered board diagnosis

\n

• Familiarity with microcontrollers, firmware loading or basic programming for test and diagnostics

\n

Power Electronics Repair Technician — $40–$55/hr

\n

\n

• Strong soldering and rework skills

\n

• Component-level repair of control boards, power supplies and drives, with team support on complex repairs

\n

• Medical through Blue Cross Blue Shield, with Miltronics paying 85% of premiums

\n

Senior Power Electronics Repair Technician — $55–$75/hr

\n

• Independent diagnosis and repair of high-voltage power stages (drives, UPS, EV chargers, inverters), including boards with limited or no documentation

\n

• Leads reverse engineering and schematic capture for new board types

\n

• Mentors technicians and helps develop repair procedures

\n

• Medical through Blue Cross Blue Shield, with Miltronics paying 100% of premiums

\n

All levels

SCHEDULE

\n

Full-time, Monday–Friday, on-site in Clifton, NJ. Occasional overtime/overscale pay may be required for urgent customer repairs.
