Pathologists Assistant - Laboratory

Location: Winston Salem, NC

Onsite Flexibility: Onsite

Contract Details

Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 16 weeks
Pay Rate: $100.00-$101.00 / Hour (USD)
Shift / Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (Days, 5x8)
Travel Requirements: Traveler experience required; local candidates also accepted
Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Required Skills

Hospital clinical laboratory
Macroscopic description of gross anatomic features
Performs gross examination and dissection of large/complex specimens
Performs gross examination and dissection of small biopsies
Prepares tissues and histological processing
Sectioning surgical pathology and specimens
Specimen fixation
Specimen receipt and labeling
Evisceration
Prepare tissue samples
Tissue sampling of microscopic examination
Obtain/review patient clinical information (e.g., scans, x-rays, lab results)
Tumor triage
Adult and fetal autopsies
Minimum 3 years of experience

Preferred Skills

Specimen accessioning
Cut and stain frozen sections
Postmortem examinations
Removal of brain and spinal cord
Gross/microscopic photography

Education Requirements

ASCP-PA (American Society for Clinical Pathology - Pathologists' Assistant) certification required
Master's degree preferred

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Unit system (Medication, Documentation, Communication): EPIC
Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
Call requirement: None
Float requirement: None
Weekend requirement: None
Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Important Notes

Unit orientation: 8 hours
Hospital orientation during week one; traveler must be available for classes each day
Manager will not extend an offer without speaking to the candidate first; please provide interview availability for the next 72 hours at time of submission
