We are seeking a Full Time Child Care Teacher to join our Child Development Center team! The ideal candidate will have experience providing safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care and supervision to children enrolled in the Child Development Program.

The Lead Child Care Teacher will serve as the primary classroom teacher and provide guidance, direction, and support to Child Care Assistant Teachers while helping maintain a positive, structured, and Christ-centered learning environment.

The successful candidate must be dependable, responsible, and able to work collaboratively with children, families, and staff. Candidates must be available to work within the Center’s core operating hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. , with schedule determined by the Director based on program and staffing needs.

Responsibilities:

• Plans and schedules age-appropriate curriculum involving various activities to stimulate children's cognitive skills, abilities, and development.
• Provides continuous supervision to children enrolled in the CDC, ensures health and safety of children.
• Maintains classroom centers, rooms, and play areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition sets up room and area for all various activities such as lunch, naps, games, and program.
• Records daily observations of children's behavioral patterns and development strategies as necessary.
• Schedules parent conferences to discuss children's developmental concerns; works with the family to devise learning and developmental strategies.
• Maintains accurate attendance and enrollment records.
• Monitors children for signs of child abuse and reports incidents of suspected abuse to the appropriate authorities.
• Request supplies and materials for classroom use.
• May have to help out in other classes as needed.
• Maintains current knowledge and required training in the field of Early Childhood Development.
• Acts as lead worker to Child Care Assistants and short-term, non-continuing personnel.
• Must have Time Management Skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the CDC Manager.

Qualifications:

• Possess knowledge of Early Childhood Developmental and appropriate practices for young children; nurturing caregiving and education of young children; concepts of curriculum development and implementation, principles of observation and assessment of young children; a solid foundation in other aspects of child development, principles of parent communication and support.
• Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D with at least 10 hours of education training, First Aid/CPR certification, and at least 2-year experience working with children in childcare or school setting. Some college experience preferred.
• Preferred: CDA or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or training equivalent, plus prior classroom experience.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as but not limited to, lifting children or heavy items up to 50lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing, and walking.
• Ability to implement a Christian-based program on sound principles of child development.
• Interact positively with children and act as an appropriate role model.
• Enforce all laws DHR policies and regulations.
• Communicate effectively in English and give and follow oral and written instructions.
• Apply concepts of curriculum development in a Christian manner.
• Exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving problems.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for a diverse Christian population.
• Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases).
• Must pass fingerprint clearance test for all appropriate agencies (such as FBI, ABI, and child Abuse Neglect Services).
