Summer Camp Food Operations Manager - New Haven Location: 830 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT 06511 Camp Dates: 6/15/2026 (Mon) - 8/21/2026 (Fri) (plus setup, breakdown weekends, and orientation) Camp Hours: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm (shifts may vary) Hourly Wage: $19.25 - $21.75 per hour, depending on experience and factors. About the Position: Steve & Kate's Camp seeks meticulous multitaskers to run on-site food program. The role involves preparing and serving snacks and lunches, cleaning, ordering supplies, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and supervising campers. No culinary experience required. Job Responsibilities Prepare and serve snacks and lunches. Clean up after meals and maintain kitchen and food service items. Order and manage food-service supplies. Maintain all food-related equipment and spaces in sanitary conditions. Assist with setup and breakdown of food service operations. Additional Responsibilities Actively supervise campers during food service activities. Maintain an organized and approachable activity space. Ensure compliance with Camp Policies related to food safety. Report and record details of notable concerns or incidents, and injuries to campers, other staff members, or self. Track and be aware of camper allergies and dietary restrictions. Add daily updates and photos to campers’ profiles. Desired Candidate Traits Love of food and willingness to learn, even without professional experience. Strong sense of organization, punctuality, and cleanliness. Excellent multitasking skills and ability to stay calm and level-headed. Comfortable with interacting with staff, campers, and parents. Physical stamina to keep up with 4-12 year olds and ability to lift up to 30-40 pounds. Job Requirements At least 18 years of age. Minimum of 2 months experience working with camp-age children; 1 year preferred, in professional, personal or volunteer setting. First Aid & CPR Certified prior to Day 1 of Camp. ServeSafe Food Handler Certification (provided if needed). Consent to communication via email or text. Physical Requirements Position requires compliance with health and safety regulations, and physical presence at camp to supervise children and facilitate activities. Maintain and follow all safety and health rules of the location. Organize and maintain clean and accessible activity spaces. Assist in camp set-up and breakdown during move-in and out weekends.
