job summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on R&D Prototype & Test Technician to partner directly with our engineering teams to build, test, break, and improve our hardware prototypes. In this role, you will bridge the gap between engineering concepts and real-world hardware, preparing detailed component drawings, executing materials and endurance testing, calibrating complex diagnostic instruments, and performing hands-on mechanical and electrical repairs. We are seeking an inquisitive technician who has a solid electromechanical aptitude and thrives in a fast-paced lab environment. You should be comfortable reading schematics, using precision gauges and data acquisition (DAQ) tools, and independently troubleshooting component failures to help our engineers deliver top-quality consumer appliances

responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and development of new products by building and wiring electromechanical prototypes and test setups.

• Prepare detailed layouts, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics to support prototype modifications.

• Run rigorous materials and product tests. Monitor models under development, identify mechanical or electrical problems, and suggest actionable solutions to the engineers.

• Use complex testing instruments, precision gauges, and data acquisition tools to capture performance data and write clear, detailed test reports.

• Own the upkeep, calibration, adjustment, and mechanical/electrical repair of high-tech lab equipment and custom test rigs.

Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in an R&D lab, prototype shop, or hardware testing environment.

• Expert with complex lab instruments, precision gauges, fine-pitch soldering, wire harness crimping, and benchtop shop tools.

• Ability to interpret engineering schematics and prepare technical layouts.

• Analytical problem-solving mindset, focused on investigating why a component failed and determining corrective actions, rather than simply executing test protocols.
