POSITION: Pre-K Teacher

JOB SUMMARY :
The Dougherty County School System is seeking an enthusiastic Pre-K teacher to guide a classroom of young children in a variety of educational activities, including but not limited to arts and crafts, free play, storytelling, and class outings. The teacher will be responsible for teaching them the fundamentals concepts they need to know for kindergarten, such as identifying numbers and letters, name writing, developing beginner readers, socialization skills, and working effectively in a classroom structure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Clear renewable certificate in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-5);
2. Previous experience teaching children in the pre-kindergarten age group;
3. Creative mindset to plan innovative, exciting lessons;
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Excellent communication and organizational skills;
2. Ability to analyze data and develop differentiated lessons based on data;
3. Ability to stand as a positive role model for impressionable minds;
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teaches children core concepts, such as numbers, letters, shapes, and colors;
2. Uses creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expressions, free play, and storytelling;
3. Implements a curriculum that addresses early childhood education requirements;
4. Encourages and monitors social interactions between children;
5. Instills a sense of respect and discipline, so that children work effectively in a classroom setting;
6. Supervises children outside of class time, such as during lunch, out on the playground, and/or field trips;
7. Makes sure that the classroom is clean, safe and well-organized;
8. Sets up the materials and workspaces required for class activities;
9. Communicates with parents to learn more about their children's progress at school;
10. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the supervisor.

REPORTS TO : Principal

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide.
