The Team You'll Work With ...

As a Design Consultant, you will be part of Fireclay's Inside Residential Sales team, working directly with homeowners and A&D firms while collaborating with Client Support and cross-functional partners to deliver a seamless customer experience. You will often be one of the first people a customer connects with through website chat, phone, or email. These conversations are an important part of how you will build your business. You will help customers understand our products and services, uncover project needs, identify sales opportunities, and continue qualified opportunities through the sales process.

As your customer relationships develop, you will build and manage a growing book of business that will include homeowners, designers, contractors, and other residential customers. You will learn the breadth of Fireclay's product offering and services while developing expertise in discovery, specification, quoting, project management, follow-up, and account development. Success in this role requires curiosity, organization, responsiveness, tenacity, and resilience. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic sales environment, managing competing priorities, and continuing to engage customers throughout longer projects and buying cycles. You should also be willing to use large language models, automation, and evolving sales technology to improve efficiency, analyze information, strengthen customer engagement, and identify additional opportunities for growth.

Because Fireclay is a growing business, responsibilities, priorities, coverage models, and special initiatives may evolve based on business needs. Reporting to the Director of Residential Inside Sales, this is a remote position supporting customers across the United States. With a base pay of $60K-$65K combined with commission (paid monthly), think of earnings in the range of $85K-$92K , based on your performance. There is no cap on commissions, and the payout structure is tiered, so you can achieve higher commission percentages as you sell more. Our comprehensive compensation package also includes goal-based bonuses and stock options.

Meet the Hiring Manager: Christopher Gonzalez . Christopher Gonzalez oversees Fireclay's Inside Residential Sales team, leading strategy, coaching, and sales operations for a national team of client-facing sellers. He focuses on developing scalable systems for account management, proactive opportunity generation, sales strategy and teammate growth. With a background in sales leadership, process design, and AI-enabled workflow development, Christopher is committed to building a high-performing team culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, emotional intelligence, and Fireclay's core values.

What You'll Achieve ...

• Build your book through inbound engagement. Provide timely, professional coverage for website chat, phone, email, and other inbound requests. Use thoughtful discovery to understand project scope, design goals, budget, and timing, and turn meaningful conversations into active projects and lasting customer relationships.
• Guide customers from selection to purchase. Conduct virtual consultations, project reviews, and product presentations, develop quotes, and help customers navigate samples, tile, trim, Bath, renderings, design support, technical resources, and ordering. Recommend relevant products and services that support their project goals.
• Grow relationships and advance sales. Proactively follow up on samples, active projects, and open quotes to move qualified opportunities toward purchase. Develop repeat business and additional projects within assigned accounts while contributing to individual and team sales goals through high-touch, consultative service.
• Manage your pipeline and coordinate project support. Keep Salesforce customer records, opportunities, activity history, follow-up, close dates, and next steps accurate. Balance inbound requests with proactive outreach, and collaborate with internal partners on pricing, technical questions, logistics, and complex project needs while preserving customer continuity.
• Improve the way we work. Identify recurring customer questions, workflow friction, and sales-process gaps, and contribute to improvements in tools, technology, automation, reporting, and customer experience. Perform other duties and support additional projects as assigned.

Inbound website chat, phone, and email conversations will be an important part of developing your customer base and learning Fireclay's sales process.

These interactions will expose you to a broad range of customers, project types, products, questions, and stages of the buying journey. You will use those conversations to deepen your product knowledge, develop strong discovery habits, identify qualified opportunities, and begin building relationships that can grow into repeat business.

Over time, your book will expand as you develop new customers, manage active projects, build repeat relationships, and create additional opportunities through proactive outreach.

The objective is to become a trusted resource who can recognize when a conversation represents a meaningful project, help the customer move forward, and remain engaged throughout their Fireclay experience.

What We Look For in You ...

We are looking for someone who is responsive, curious, organized, relationship-driven, and comfortable taking ownership. You enjoy talking with customers, asking thoughtful questions, solving problems, and helping people translate an idea into a clear next step.

You are comfortable working in a dynamic sales environment where priorities can change throughout the day. You can move between inbound customer conversations, active projects, follow-up, quoting, and proactive account work while maintaining strong organization and customer responsiveness.

• Customer-facing experience in sales, design, interiors, retail, hospitality, account management, project management, or another consultative environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including comfort communicating through website chat, phone, email, video, and presentations.
• Strong discovery and listening skills with the ability to uncover customer goals, project requirements, budget, timing, and buying intent.
• Ability to build trust and develop long-term customer relationships.
• Strong organization and follow-through when managing multiple active customers, projects, quotes, conversations, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Comfort balancing reactive inbound demand with proactive follow-up and business-development activity.
• Ability and interest in learning a broad product assortment, including design, specification, technical, installation, and service considerations.
• Comfort using Salesforce, phone systems, website chat, email, scheduling tools, reporting, and evolving sales technology.
• Curiosity and willingness to use large language models, automation, and evolving sales technology to improve efficiency, analyze information, strengthen customer engagement, and identify additional opportunities for growth.
• Tenacity and resilience in following through with customers, adapting to changing project needs, and developing a growing book of business.
• Sound judgment about when to resolve something independently and when to involve another Fireclay specialist.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate project and customer information.
• Collaborative and coachable, with a willingness to share customer insights, surface recurring problems, test new approaches, and contribute to team learning.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while remaining highly connected to teammates and cross-functional partners.
• Interest in design, architecture, interiors, tile, or other highly considered products is strongly valued.
