Utilities TechnicianThe City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Utilities Technician to join our Engineering & Utilities Department.Examples of DutiesChecks water leaks, determine the severity and reports their findings to the Utility Coordinator and/or SupervisorPerforms pressure checks when customers have pressure issuesCompletes SCDOT encroachment permits when needed and turns them into EngineeringTurn in proper paperwork to the Utility Office personnelEnter information into the GIS systemIs on call for the Utility DepartmentPerforms general clerical work as requiredOther assigned duties as neededMinimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentTwo to three years Utility experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesAbility to understand and follow verbal instructionsInterpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance dutiesBe familiar with operating and entering information into the GIS systemHave knowledge and understanding of SCDOT encroachment permitsValid state issued driver's license in good standingSupplemental InformationThis position is subject to a criminal background check for any convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities.
