Job Summary

This role involves warmly greeting patients and visitors, offering clear directions and assistance. The specialist will manage scheduling for all sleep procedures, coordinating closely with referring providers and insurance companies to verify eligibility, obtain pre-certifications, and secure necessary authorizations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Schedule all sleep-related procedures and distribute pre-test forms along with educational materials.
• Maintain and update the scheduling calendar, handling rescheduling, cancellations, and no-shows efficiently.
• Manage scheduling communications via phone and messages.
• Monitor fax communications.
• Utilize Epic EMR and MyChart systems fluently.
• Verify patient insurance details and determine pre-certification needs.
• Apply for required authorizations and navigate various insurance platforms and eligibility algorithms.
• Stay current with changes and updates in insurance authorization processes.
• Maintain accurate pre-authorization tracking spreadsheets.
• Welcome patients, visitors, physicians, staff, and vendors by introducing oneself and explaining procedures clearly to create a comfortable and positive environment.
• Assist in managing the flow from waiting areas to clinical departments.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent; commercial school graduation is a plus. Medical Terminology knowledge is preferred. Prior authorization experience is advantageous. At least one year of experience in a medical business office or sleep medicine setting is preferred. Familiarity with Epic EMR is desirable. Work Shift: First shift, full-time position in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
