Direct Support Professional (DSP)

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more independently. Their main duties include assisting with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and eating, helping individuals participate in community and social activities, administering medications, and ensuring safety and well-being. DSPs also support personal growth and self-advocacy. Important qualities for a DSP are good communication skills, empathy, and patience.

23fifteen Living Options provides residential support to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). We specialize in small, non-institutionalized living arrangements that encourage independence, empower choice, and emphasize person-centeredness.

**POSITIONS AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY**.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• DSP Year 1 certification upon hire (willing to obtain immediately) and DSP Year II within 3 months of hire.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Verified health screening including TB test within one year or prior to working with residents.
• Fingerprint clearance from D.O.J./F.B.I. before working with residents.
• Valid Driver's License and insurance for transportation.
• Compliance with all facility policies and procedures.
• Attendance at all required training courses.
• NCI (Crisis Prevention) certification within 60 days of hire.
• Knowledge of Title 17 and Title 22 regulations.
• Understanding of the Regional Center system.

Preferred Experience:

• Registered Behavior Technician or willingness to become one within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities:

• Willingness to work all shifts/days.
• Experience in implementing Individual Program Plans (IPP).
• Ensuring health and safety of residents.
• Implementing Behavior Treatment Plans and documenting progress.
• Assessing and requesting needed materials and supplies.
• Providing transportation for outings, appointments, and activities.
• Implementing Universal Precautions, Handwashing Techniques, and Infection Control.
• Conducting spot checks and quality assurance reviews.

Staffing Requirements:

• One year of experience providing exceptional services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• 18 years of age.
• Familiarity with working with clients with intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to lift, bend, walk, and stand for lengthy periods.
• Cooking, cleaning, and assisting residents with daily living skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Good character.

Communication Skills:

• Proficient in English for communication with staff, clients, families, and agencies.
• Ability to communicate with clients using their native language, sign language, or other communication systems.
• Willingness to be trained on assistive technology and communication devices.

Salary: $19 - $22 per hour
