Assistant Building Engineer

Assistant Facility EngineerThe Assistant Facility Engineer will assist and fill in during the absence of the Plant Engineer with the responsibilities of the Maintenance Department. The Assistant Facility Engineer will operate the Maintenance Department with the company goals of safe, quality food top of mind while achieving the financial goals of Klosterman Baking Company. The Assistant Facility Engineer will maintain the building, grounds and all associated equipment to comply with all laws, policies and standards governing food safety.Responsibilities:Help manage the engineering needs of the bakery and the hourly engineering staff. Supervision of maintenance and installation of all plant equipment and facilities.Principal roles and responsibilities:Assure equipment reliability to maximize production lines productivitySupervise, coach, train, lead and motivate mechanics to meet planned objectives and respond effectively to emergenciesBuild staff capability by effectively monitoring and providing performance feedback to direct reportsCommunicate status of shift to following shift and others who require the informationIdentify equipment and facility deficiencies and ensure the initiation of corrective actionAssess mechanics technical and troubleshooting skillsProvide training and counseling as needed to assist mechanics in meeting performance standardsPartner with plant peers to ensure the plants equipment meet regulatory requirements for cleanliness and product safetyMaintain P&L responsibility over maintenance cost centers, repair and maintenance, maintenance labor, utilities and capital improvement plansOversee preventative maintenance compliance and effectivenessDevelop, monitor, and ensure timely completion of short- and long-term goals and action plansAssist in making operational improvements to reduce costs and to increase productivityDevelop and maintain part inventoryInterfaces with vendors, manufacturers and field service personnelUtilize new technology and lean manufacturing principals and processes to maximize efficiencyProvide day-to-day operational leadership to mechanics and all associated personnelDevelop a work environment within manufacturing that promotes trust, teamwork, quality, and safetyDevelop, evaluate, train, and mentor employeesEnsure the adherence of safety policies, practices, and proceduresEnsure production of quality product in compliance of federal and state guidelines.
