Occupational Therapist (Outpatient Pediatrics-Danville, IN) Full Time/80 Hours Bi-Weekly

Job Summary Evaluation and treatment of a variety of developmental, sensory processing, musculoskeletal, and neurological diagnoses/conditions, with treatment specific to the patient. Education and preventative care to patients, patients’ families, hospital associates and the community. Liaison between patients and family, physicians, nursing, and Social Services, etc. Serves the needs of patients, families, physicians through the effective and efficient delivery, education and coordination of occupational therapy services. Essential Responsibilities Use common sense and special clinical skills to care for patients with regard to the patient’s age and diagnosis. Provide high quality patient treatment, including evaluation, treatment planning and implementation, patient/family education and instruction, provision of safety procedures, and communication with those indicated such as patient, family, physician, and other hospital associates. Carry out all duties deemed necessary to maintain a high level of quality of care and efficiency as defined by the department manager. Manage outpatient pediatric caseload. Operate equipment related to patient care, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation units, mechanical traction, exercise equipment, wound care equipment, hospital beds, etc. Direct patients in care and use of assistive devices, braces, orthotics, prosthetics, exercise equipment, and orthopedic devices. Direct and aid patients in mobility and strengthening exercises, muscle reeducation, gait and activities of daily living training, and functional training. Adapt conventional physiotherapeutic techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regimen of therapeutic exercise. Document patient care following requirements defined by HFAP and departmental policy and procedure. Participate in continuous quality improvement processes as it relates to patient care, including evaluation and peer review of patient care quality. Display excellent guest relations with all patients, customer and co-associate correspondence, and excellent telephone etiquette. Communicate effectively with intra- and interdepartmental associates as it relates to patient care and customer relations. Support the hospital’s mission and values, strategic plan and vision, and department service statement and philosophy. Direct and supervise activities of aides, students, and volunteers. Assist with departmental functions deemed necessary by the Director of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Participate in providing educational material to departmental staff on a rotating basis. Maintain continuing self‑education in areas of interest and those pertinent to the diagnoses treated in the clinic. Education and Experience Required Graduation from an Occupational Therapy Program approved and accredited by AOTA under the Standards for Accreditation of Education Programs for Occupational Therapists as most recently published. Continuing education courses pertinent to clinical practice and professional responsibilities, or as requested by the Department Director. Active participation in the AP/OTA at the local, state, and national levels, as deemed necessary by the department director. Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree. Mandatory Licensure/Certifications Must have licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana. Certification in CPR required.
