Senior Accountant

Job Overview Senior Accountant responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Job Details Job Title: Senior Accountant Location: Kansas City, KS Job Type: Full Time, Exempt Department: Administration Supervisor: Controller Pay: $80,000-90,000 per year Work Location: In Person Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management. General Ledger Management Oversee general ledger functions and maintain the chart of accounts. Perform month‑end and year‑end closings, including journal entries and accruals. Reconcile accounts and ensure completeness of financial data. Inventory Accounting Manage inventory accounting for parts and vehicles. Ensure accurate costing and valuation. Fixed Assets Management Maintain fixed asset records and reconcile periodically. Oversee capitalization, depreciation, and disposal processes. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audits with documentation and schedules. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets. Tax & Regulatory Filings Prepare and file sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory reports. Assist with income tax compliance and reporting. Team Leadership Mentor and support junior accounting staff. Assist in training and development. Foster a collaborative and positive team culture. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Occasional lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds. Ability to focus on complex financial data for extended periods. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred. 5–7 years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a senior role. Automotive or truck dealership experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
