Your Role as a COTA As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will provide individualized occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of an Occupational Therapist, helping residents achieve meaningful functional goals and greater independence. Key Responsibilities Identify and address residents’ individual goals, needs, and functional limitations. Implement individualized treatment plans using appropriate therapeutic techniques and interventions. Provide quality, personalized, evidence-based care based on each resident’s abilities and goals. Support improvements in strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, mobility, and functional performance. Motivate and encourage residents throughout treatment to maximize participation and progress. Help residents develop skills and strategies to promote greater independence in daily activities. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on appropriate therapeutic techniques, adaptive strategies, and safety recommendations. Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, patient-centered care. Monitor treatment effectiveness and communicate resident progress and concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient care and therapy services. Promote resident dignity, safety, independence, and quality of life throughout the rehabilitation process. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation. Qualifications & Requirements Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program . Active COTA license or eligibility to obtain licensure as required by the state of practice. Skilled nursing facility (SNF) or geriatric experience preferred, but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
