Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The primary functions of an LPN include assisting with the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care of all patients, regardless of age, during their shift. Responsible for meeting the established standards of skilled nursing practice. The Licensed Practical Nurse collaborates with the care team and participates in interdisciplinary care. Advocates for patients effectively and provides person-centered care and services. Administers medications and treatments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with facility policy. Takes the patient's vital signs such as respiration, temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate. Reports changes in the patient's or residents' conditions. Practices ethically and professionally within their scope while advocating for patients. Maintains clinical competence specific to their care area, including required education within the stated timeframe. Coordinates care with the interdisciplinary team. Documents appropriately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system. Keeps nursing personnel and the responsible Registered Nurse informed regarding changes in condition of patients or residents, and any other pertinent observations. Travelers are expected to work every other weekend and every other holiday. May be needed to assist in other roles as staffing permits and needs. Floating to other units may occur as staffing permits. This position encompasses evening shifts three times a week. Staffing ratios for this shift are structured to ensure optimal care for residents. Scrubs of any color may be worn.
