Position Description - Responsibilities and Requirements

The Tennessee Innocence Project(“TIP”) investigates and litigates claims of actual innocence on behalf ofinnocent people acrossTennessee.In addition to direct litigation, TIP alsoengages in policy, education, and restorative work.TIPoperatesstatewide and has offices in Nashville and Memphis.

TIP is looking to hire anexperiencedDeputy Directorwith a background in management, operations, and personnel to oversee the dailybusinessof the organization. The Deputy Directorwill report directly to the Executive Director. All non-legal staff will report to theDeputy Director.Legal staff will report directly to the Legal Director, who willcontinue toreport tothe Executive Director.The ideal candidate is an excellent leader capable of managing the staff and business operations of TIP.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the dailyadministrative responsibilitiesat TIP.
• Supervisethenon-legal staff fromeverydepartment,including development,operations,financeand client services.
• Oversee human resources andworkwith the Executive Director onstaffing decisions.
• Evaluate the efficiency of TIP procedures according to organizational goals andapply improvements.
• Manage relationships/agreements with external vendors.
• Coordinate with the Executive Director to execute strategic goals for TIP.
• Providedaily support to all staff.
• Ensure connectivity between different offices.
• Oversee the accuracy of TIP financials.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in business or nonprofit operations.
• Outstanding people skills.
• In-depth knowledge of nonprofit or business operations (e.g., development, accounting, human resources,budgetingetc.)
• Multi-tasker; efficient and organized with time.
• Proven ability to manage a team of employees.
• Success in achieving measured goals.
• Familiarity with various office software and social media platforms.
• Creativethinkerwhocan help implement organizational sustainability and growth.

Job Status: Full-Time

• Salary and Benefits: This position offers acompetitivesalarycommensuratewithexperience. Includes paid time off, health care,dental care, vision care, life insurance, matching retirement account andan 8-weeksabbatical after seven years of service.
• Location: The position is based in TIP’s Nashville, Tennessee office, but as a statewide organization, theDeputy Directorwillalsowork with our team in Memphis.Some travel may berequired.
