The Opportunity As a Paralegal, you will be a vital member of our Legal Department’s small, high-performing team—providing essential support across the full range of our legal operations. We are seeking a versatile, self-directed professional who brings meaningful experience in both litigation support and commercial real estate transactions, and who understands the specialized legal environment of a title insurance company. In this hands-on role, you will serve as the Department’s first point of contact and a key resource for eDiscovery, subpoena and legal process response, litigation tracking, fraud and risk support, and curative title work—while also supporting complex transactional matters, including our specialty escrow and 1031 exchange operations. You will work directly alongside Land Title attorneys, interface regularly with our operations, underwriting, and risk teams, and coordinate with outside counsel on active matters. This is a rare opportunity to join Colorado’s premier independent title company in a broad, meaningful role where your work matters every day. This is an in-office position, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Why Join Land Title? At Land Title, we believe our most precious resource is our people. We take a holistic approach to caring for our team, ensuring you have the support you need to thrive. Here is what you can look forward to when you join us:
This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
For further information, please review the Know Your Rights notice from the Department of Labor.
- Incredible Culture: Step into an environment where everything we do is grounded in our core values of Excellence, Efficacy, Responsibility, Altruism, and Honesty.
- Meaningful Work: You will collaborate with Colorado real estate and title professionals who know this market inside and out—and who take genuine pride in the work they do every day.
- Professional Growth: We are committed to your future. We actively invest in training, development, and expanding the professional skills of every member of our team.
- Personal Wellness: We champion true work-life balance and provide robust support through our Employee Assistance Program to ensure your overall well-being.
- Opportunities to Serve: Be part of a company that gives back. Our leadership regularly donates time to professional and civic organizations that support the communities where we live and work.
- Serve as the Department’s First Point of Contact for Intra-Company Inquiries: Triage incoming calls and emails from Land Title teammates for the Legal Department, routing inquiries appropriately and providing timely, professional responses to internal and external contacts.
- Manage Subpoena, Legal Process & Correspondence: Serve as the primary contact for all legal process (including subpoenas, CIDs, and regulatory requests), with a path toward full ownership of this function. You will analyze historical files to identify responsive documents, apply redactions to protect consumer NPI, and prepare formal responses and certifications under attorney supervision. Additionally, you will draft and deliver official correspondence and maintain a centralized tracking log for all deadlines and dispositions.
- Support eDiscovery, Litigation & Agency Claims: Assist with all phases of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including issuance and tracking of legal holds, coordination with IT and internal custodians for data collection, and oversight of compliant productions. Maintain the company’s internal litigation docket and matter tracking system, monitoring case deadlines and hearing schedules. Assist outside counsel with requests related to agency claims and Land Title litigation, including gathering documents, chronologies, and supporting materials.
- Support Fraud Prevention & Risk Matters: Assist with seller fraud due diligence and coordinate with law enforcement on records requests and fraud-related matters. Assist in the preparation of victim impact statements and reports for the Risk Team, helping the company respond effectively when fraud is identified.
- Assist with Curative & Corrective Title Work: Support title underwriters, escrow officers, and attorneys with complex title curative and corrective issues, including drafting affidavits, deeds, and other corrective instruments; contacting customers and third parties to secure cooperation with the corrective process; tracking release documentation; and conducting deep-dive property and court records research, including chains of title, judgment liens, and probate dockets.
- Support Specialty & Complex Transactions: Assist with complex real estate transactions by reviewing title commitments, surveys, entity documents, trust agreements, and authority requirements. Support our 1031 exchange and long-term escrow operations through document preparation and compliance review. Review and assist in drafting and negotiating ancillary agreements, including escrow agreements, master services agreements, and vendor contracts.
- Manage Claims, Collections & Bankruptcy Matters: Assist with processing and payment of claim invoices. Manage non-employee wage garnishments and UCC notices and demands. Research and respond to bankruptcy notices, including tracking deadlines to file proofs of claim.
- Support Insurance, Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Assist with insurance matters, including policy renewals, tendering of claims and notices of circumstances, and retention tracking. Assist with internal audits and with regulatory filings, licensing maintenance, and annual reporting for the company and its affiliated entities. Monitor Colorado Division of Insurance requirements and other regulatory developments affecting Land Title’s operations.
- Manage Legal Documentation & Research: Conduct legal research in support of Legal Department matters. Assist in the preparation, management, and ongoing refinement of company document templates, standard form agreements, and Legal Department process documentation, playbooks, and internal guidelines.
- Drive Operational Success: Take on additional legal projects and perform other duties as assigned to support the ongoing, dynamic needs of the company and the Legal Department.
- Autonomy & Ownership: A self-starter mentality with the ability to immediately assume responsibility for a wide variety of work. You manage competing priorities independently, exercise sound judgment, and take full ownership of matters with minimal supervision.
- Versatility: Comfort toggling between litigation support, eDiscovery, subpoena response, fraud and risk matters, and transactional real estate work—sometimes on the same day. This role rewards breadth as much as depth.
- Precision & Discretion: Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality. You handle sensitive consumer, financial, and legal information with the professionalism required in a regulated industry.
- Business-Minded Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to draft precise legal correspondence and distill complex matters into clear, actionable terms for operational colleagues.
- Collaborative Spirit: A genuine team orientation. You work effectively with attorneys, operations personnel, outside counsel, and third parties, and you build relationships across the organization.
- Unwavering Integrity: A high level of professional maturity, strong ethics, and an uncompromising standard of integrity—consistent with our core values of Excellence, Efficacy, Responsibility, Altruism, and Honesty.
- 3 - 5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm, in-house corporate legal department, title company, or financial services company.
- Demonstrated experience in real estate transactions and/or title insurance, including familiarity with title commitments, schedules, endorsements, and underwriting concepts.
- Meaningful litigation support experience, including case management, discovery response, and outside counsel coordination.
- Meaningful eDiscovery experience, including working with document review platforms and managing document collections and productions.
- Experience handling third-party subpoenas and legal process—civil, regulatory, and law enforcement—including responsive document review, redaction, and production.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google products including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Forms, as well as legal case management or matter management software.
- Prior experience in the title insurance industry or at a title insurance company, underwriter, or affiliated settlement services entity.
- Familiarity with Colorado real property law and Colorado Division of Insurance regulatory requirements.
- Experience with 1031 exchange transactions or long-term/specialty escrow arrangements.
- Experience with eDiscovery tools including Google Vault.
- Familiarity with title production systems.
- Experience with legal hold workflows, privilege log preparation, and litigation preservation.
- Experience with fraud due diligence, bankruptcy claims processes, or insurance claims administration.
- Notary Public commission (Colorado) or willingness to obtain.
- Competitive Pay: $55,000 - $70,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
- Total Wellness: Top-tier medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus the convenience of 24/7 Teledoc services.
- Long-Term Security: Traditional and Roth 401(k) retirement options with company match, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage.
- Time to Recharge: A generous time-off package including vacation, sick time, and 10 paid holidays.
- Career Advancement: Dedicated training opportunities and an Education Assistance Program (EAP) to support your continuous professional growth.
- Beyond the Office: Confidential support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), plus industry perks including title and closing discounts for your own real estate transactions.
