Job Description:

The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, with emphasis in specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The role includes monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, understanding ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring, blood work results, monitoring, teaching, and training.

Responsibilities:

• Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures per department policy.
• Verify Respiratory Care physician's orders and provide accurate and complete reports.
• Attend and participate in department in-services, meetings, and patient care rounds.
• Keep Supervisor apprised of changes in workload and patient acuity.
• Enter daily services and charges into the department's computer system.
• Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment.
• Perform effective airway management and assist with intubation as needed.
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees and students.
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and monitor ventilator patients.
• Complete continuous training and comply with PPE requirements.
• Perform patient charge reconciliation and verify accuracy for payroll preparation.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 16 years of age and legally able to work in the United States.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.
• Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with the CRT Credential.
• BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• NRP certifications (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
• At least one year respiratory experience in a hospital setting.
