Electrical Engineer 12 month contract Must be able to work on a W2 Onsite in Portage, MI

SUMMARY Our client, a medical device company, has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a Staff Electrical Engineer. This position will be responsible for leading the development of electrical subsystems for a next-generation robotic platform, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable electrical solutions from concept through commercialization.

DUTIES / EXPECTATIONS OF ROLE

• Lead the electrical design and development of major robotic subsystems, including PCBAs and electrical hardware integration.
• Translate product and system requirements into detailed electrical requirements, interfaces, and designs.
• Develop complex PCBAs, including schematic design, component selection, and rigid, flex, and rigid-flex circuit layouts using Altium.
• Conduct PCB layout reviews, perform board bring-up, characterization, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Integrate electrical hardware with embedded software, mechanical components, and overall robotic system.
• Make technical tradeoff decisions considering performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Develop verification and EMC testing strategies, supporting testing at external laboratories or company facilities.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and multidisciplinary system issues.
• Support design documentation, risk management, design transfer, and product commercialization activities.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Five or more years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Experience designing and developing PCBAs, including schematic design, component selection, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Knowledge of rigid, flex, and rigid-flex circuit board design.
• Experience integrating electrical hardware with software and mechanical systems.
• Ability to develop and execute testing strategies, including EMC/EMI compliance.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in medical device development, including design controls, risk management, IEC 60601, or Design History File documentation.
• Background in electromechanical, robotic, or other high-technology products.
• Experience guiding products from requirements development through verification and commercialization.
