Director, U.S. Therapeutic Area Strategies (Oncology/Specialty)

AbbVie seeks a Director of U.S. Therapeutic Area Strategies to develop and execute government affairs strategies for oncology and specialty business units. The role bridges commercial priorities with public policy initiatives to improve patient access and reimbursement while managing stakeholder relationships and advocacy partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Shape government policies and public policy environments to improve patient access and reimbursement for oncology brands
• Serve as liaison between Government Affairs and Oncology/Specialty Business Units, sharing business developments and policy intelligence
• Establish and maintain relationships with third-party organizations and develop aligned advocacy strategies
• Support brand team strategy development and capacity building across product life cycles
• Manage consultants and budgets for public policy advocacy initiatives; monitor external trends affecting therapeutic areas

Requirements

• Ten or more years in pharmaceutical industry, healthcare sector, or public policy roles
• Bachelor's degree in health care administration, political science, public administration, or policy; advanced degree preferred
• Deep expertise in government affairs, stakeholder relations, political campaigns, and access/reimbursement policy
• Demonstrated experience designing and leading coalitions in government or campaign settings
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills with persuasive written and verbal communication
• Executive presence and political acumen to engage high-profile stakeholders and senior leadership
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast-paced, demanding environment
