JOB SUMMARY

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Officer is responsible for managing security and fire alarm monitoring systems, operating communications equipment, logging shift activities, monitoring surveillance and camera systems, processing required reports, and making appropriate notifications. Performs dispatch and control center functions; may be assigned a rank per client contract. Does not perform Security Officer duties except on a limited, relief or emergency basis.

Core Duties Include: Monitors central alarm dispatch, disposition, and archiving for security and fire alarms; directs daily routine activities for security and fire personnel and manages command/control procedures for emergencies. Operates security and fire alarm monitoring systems, communications equipment, logs shift activities, and monitors surveillance and intrusion monitors. Uses communication equipment such as two‑way radio, telephone systems, secure phone, satellite phone, paging systems, alarm receiving equipment, and computers. Makes emergency response notifications and dispatches for all site emergencies per procedures. Dispatches facilities personnel, site telephone operator services, plant access control monitoring, and after‑hours commuter services. Makes notifications to management or designee(s) per Post Orders for all incidents, emergencies, crises, and exercises. Monitors local and international crises involving the client and/or site. Ensures UL2050 compliance for National Industrial Security systems (dispatching, response, weekly generator test, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, equipment protection, training). Maintains a professional environment in full compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; ensures staff compliance. Confirms all equipment is present and operational. Maintains logs, reviews, and writes reports for incidents and emergencies. Performs tasks and duties of similar nature and scope as required for assigned sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Basic Qualifications At least 21 years of age. Ability to acquire and maintain any required clearances and/or access requirements. Education/Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D. Minimum of two years of additional education or related experience to meet minimum state licensing and/or site standards. Background Prerequisites Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements. Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing) Meet state, county, and municipal licensing or permit requirements for Security Officers. Meet company or client-required training standards. Meet certification requirements for Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from AAA or ACR. Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures. Fluency in English for communication with employees and clients. Good vision with ability to adjust focus. Ability to write routine correspondence, logs, and reports. Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions. Effective team member; maintain professional composure in unusual circumstances. Adaptability to changes in environment and organization. Organizational skills. High‑quality customer service. Interpersonal skills across diverse cultures. Courteous telephone manner. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Intermediate keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls. Knowledge of and ability to learn computer systems. WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands) Requires physical and mental capacity to perform essential functions. Additional demands include: Maintain composure with authorities and clients, often under urgent or pressure situations. Possibly exposed to stressful situations with individuals in unauthorized areas. May need to work overtime without advance notice. Frequent sitting, standing, walking for up to 8 hours per day; may involve stairs and uneven terrain. Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds. Must hear and understand at normal range levels. May use vehicles (cars, trucks, electric carts, bicycles) in duties. Occasional stressful physical activity. Exposure to inclement weather; may require protective gear and safety awareness. May handle sensitive confidential information.
