Job Title: Journeyman Pipefitter / Mechanical Fitter (Commercial/Industrial) Job Description

This role supports a brand-new construction project at DFW Airport Terminal F, focusing on the mechanical layout and installation of commercial and industrial piping systems. You will work as part of a small crew to install Victaulic grooved piping, hangers, supports, and valves, with very minimal welding involved. This long-term project offers the opportunity to contribute to a large-scale airport terminal build and potentially transition into a contract-to-hire position.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate layout of commercial and industrial piping systems in accordance with project plans and drawings.

• Install pipe hangers, supports, and valves for Victaulic grooved piping and other steel piping systems.

• Assemble and install steel piping using mechanical couplings and grooved/Victaulic systems rather than traditional welding methods.

• Identify, select, and install appropriate pipe fittings and components based on system requirements.

• Assist with material take-offs and identification to ensure correct piping and components are ordered and staged.

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and piping configurations to guide installation work.

• Follow established installation standards, safety procedures, and project specifications throughout all work activities.

• Collaborate and coordinate with a crew of approximately 4–6 team members to complete layout and installation tasks efficiently.

• Install and direct the placement of valves within the piping systems to meet design and operational requirements.

• Work within a commercial/light industrial construction environment, adapting to changing site conditions and project phases.

• Utilize reference materials such as fitting guides and handbooks to verify proper components and installation methods.

• Comply with OSHA safety standards and participate in any required site safety meetings and protocols.

Essential Skills

• At least 3+ years of experience in pipefitting or related piping installation work.

• Journeyman-level pipefitter or journeyman plumber experience, preferably with a valid card.

• Demonstrated ability to perform layout and assemble piping systems in commercial or light industrial construction environments.

• Hands-on experience working with steel pipe systems and mechanical piping installations.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and piping configurations.

• Mechanical installation experience with piping systems, with minimal reliance on welding.

• Familiarity with Victaulic grooved piping systems or other grooved/mechanical coupling piping methods.

• Understanding of industrial construction practices and standards.

• Knowledge of OSHA safety practices, including OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training.

• Capability to work effectively in a crew setting and follow project instructions and standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Victaulic groove piping experience is strongly preferred but not strictly required.

• Journeyman Plumber with a valid card is acceptable for this role.

• Applicable licenses or certifications in pipefitting, plumbing, or mechanical installation are strongly preferred.

• Experience in industrial construction environments, particularly large-scale commercial projects.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work in a primarily mechanical assembly role with minimal welding.

• Comfort using fitting guides, handbooks, and other reference materials to confirm proper installation practices.

• Experience installing and directing valves and associated piping components.

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is beneficial and may enhance safety readiness on site.

Work Environment

This position is based at DFW Airport Terminal F on a new construction project within a commercial/industrial environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with mandatory overtime and some Saturdays as project needs require. Work is performed in groups of approximately 4–6 team members, emphasizing coordination and teamwork. The environment involves active construction conditions, including working around heavy equipment and ongoing trades, and focuses on mechanical assembly of Victaulic grooved piping and steel piping systems. Safety compliance with OSHA standards is expected at all times.

This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
