The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for actively coordinating and organizing an efficient clinic workflow for in-person and telemedicine visits across primary care practice. This position monitors and resolves scheduling issues, handles patient intakes, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures, orders clinic supplies, and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, infection control, and patient privacy. Essential Duties Actively coordinate and organize clinic workflow for in-person and telemedicine visits. Monitor and resolve scheduling issues and complaints during clinic hours. Manage lab/imaging orders and assist with prior authorizations and prescription refill management. Perform various office and clerical duties. Ensure privacy, safety, and confidentiality of patients. Maintain a safe environment in accordance with standards and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with infection control policies. Order clinic supplies under supervision. Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures such as staple removal, suture removal, and wound care. Act as lead and mentor to all Medical Assistant staff, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and workflows. Orient, precept, onboard new staff and monitor staff competencies. Perform in-person or telemedicine intake, obtain vital signs, medication lists, and record appropriate data. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited medical assistant certificate/diploma program. Minimum of 2 years experience as a medical assistant, preferably in an ambulatory care setting, with at least 1 year in ambulatory care. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Knowledge of ICD‑9 coding, billing data collection, and charge posting. Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team. Problem‑solving and self‑motivation. Multi‑tasking, prioritizing, and workflow management skills. Preferred Qualifications Spanish language skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Required Licenses / Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); if no certification card on hire, must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration, applicable only in LA City.
