Telemetry Monitor Technician

Overview Sentara is currently hiring a Monitor Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Telemetry Monitor Surveillance team. This full‑time night shift position (approximately 7pm to 7am) is on‑site in Virginia Beach, VA. Hours / Shift Full‑time, night shift (approx. 7pm–7am). On‑site position at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. Location Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, Virginia Beach, VA (Level III Trauma Center). Department Overview Our 12‑bed cardiac unit provides specialized care for patients with complex cardiovascular needs in a close‑knit, team‑focused environment. Responsibilities Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients. Detect deviations from patient norms and promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operate and utilize monitoring system to full capacity. Ensure proper and safe functioning of telemetry equipment. Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification / Licensure Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire. If not completed, must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire, or have 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years. All Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool (basic arrhythmia exam). This is part of the new employee orientation. Experience One year of EKG/Monitor Tech experience preferred.
