Overview Temporary Faculty Pool - Lecturer in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism. Department: Recreation Administration, College of Health and Human Services. Location: Central California – Fresno. The Department of Recreation Administration offers a BS in Recreation Administration with options in community and youth, special events and tourism, outdoor recreation, recreation therapy, and sport and entertainment facility management. The college emphasizes community engagement. Position Summary The successful applicant may teach recreation, tourism, outdoor recreation, special events, sport and entertainment facility management courses. Undergraduate courses may include RA 117 (Special Events and Tourism) and RA 131 (Foundations of Special Events and Tourism), or other classes identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students. Responsibilities Instructor responsibilities include adherence to university and system-wide policies as directed by Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Responsibilities also include preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled for the entire semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Conditional Appointment Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the CSU-CFA collective bargaining agreement. Appointees must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions). Compensation Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month (full-time 15 WTUs). Actual salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per term. Anticipated Semester The temporary faculty pool is continuously open and positions are filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Positions are part-time and vary by semester. Appointments are often made just before the start of the term. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; reapplication is required to remain beyond that period. Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026 Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Required Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in Recreation and Parks Administration or a closely related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Experience Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications A PhD/EdD in Recreation, Parks and Tourism. A commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, evidenced by prior teaching experiences and evaluations or other evidence.
