Cook I (Part Time)

Location: Ridgecrest, NC, 1000 Ridge Crest Ln, Mount Airy, NC 27030, USA. Position Summary We are seeking a Cook I to work collaboratively with front and back of house teams, centralizing kitchen operations in a senior living community environment. The role focuses on building foundational culinary skills, managing food safety and quality standards, and supporting the team in preparing therapeutic and specialty diets. Essential Functions Collaborate with front and back of house team to meet quality, presentation, and portion control standards. Adhere to HACCP, labeling, storage protocols, and food service regulations. Follow safety protocols and maintain a culture of safety. Document temperature charts and records. Communicate effectively with community departments and Home Office support. Participate in planning and production meetings. Attend required in‑service training and education programs. Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services. Competencies Technical skills, communication, initiative, flexibility, interpersonal skills, teamwork, professionalism, and ethics are required. Physical Demands and Work Environment Stand or maneuver independently around work area for up to 8 hours. Lift or carry up to 50 lbs. Operate kitchen equipment such as slicer, chopper, processor, knives. Work with potential exposure to cleaning chemicals, heat, cold, noise, and body fluids. Remain attentive to basic sensory functions and perform duties with minimal supervision. Travel No travel required; occasional travel may be required for training, continuing education, emergency situations, or other company functions. Education and Experience Requirements High school graduation or GED required. 1‑2 years experience in a similar culinary position desired. Culinary training a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and understanding. Excellent attendance and punctuality. Ability to use miscellaneous software and office equipment.
