Job Title: Commissioning Engineer Job Description

The Commissioning Engineer will manage commissioning activities throughout the design, construction, and occupancy phases. This role involves reviewing design documents, specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation to ensure commissioning compliance. The engineer will develop commissioning plans and perform field inspections to verify the proper installation of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and control systems.

• Develop commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures.
• Execute and document functional performance testing of building systems.
• Troubleshoot building system deficiencies and work with project teams to develop corrective actions.
• Participate in project meetings and provide commissioning updates to clients and stakeholders.
• Review testing and balancing reports, controls documentation, and startup reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, design professionals, and facility staff to resolve commissioning issues.
• Verify system performance, energy efficiency, and operational readiness prior to occupancy.
• Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and project documentation.
• Support existing building commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy audits, and facility assessments as needed.

• 3+ years of experience in commissioning, MEP engineering, controls, facility operations, construction, or related building systems work.
• Understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, and energy systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and control sequences.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

The role operates in a collaborative team environment with opportunities for growth. The work involves a combination of office settings and fieldwork, ensuring systems are operationally ready and energy-efficient prior to occupancy.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

The pay range for this position is $40.80 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Olathe,KS.
