IT Specialist III - Telework Hybrid

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a skilled Product Architect at the ITS III level to join the Information Systems Division (ISD). This role requires advanced organizational insight to connect strategic goals with the technical application of legacy systems while supporting the delivery of modern digital services for Californians. As an enterprise-level architect, the ITS III will lead the design and development of software solutions for the Enterprise Applications Branch (EAB). Responsibilities include discovery, design, development, integration, and oversight of the Department's legacy systems and its modernization efforts. The position requires expert-level knowledge of enterprise strategy, IT governance, legacy systems, and emerging technologies to align solutions with the Department's strategic plan. The ITS III will provide technical leadership, advise executive management on IT strategy and policy, and direct highly complex enterprise projects involving hybrid architectures. Additional duties include technology management, software engineering, infrastructure architecture, systems integration, user-centered design, testing, implementation, operations, and maintenance.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework is available for this position. Telework requires California residency, and all telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State and Department operational needs. The employee will be required to report to the designated office location at DMV Headquarters, 2415 1st Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95818. Travel expenses related to reporting to the designated office are the employee's responsibility and are not eligible for reimbursement. This position may require working weekends and off-shift hours.

Familiarity with business process modeling tools is a plus. - Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. - Ability to adapt to fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities. - Experience with project management methodologies and change management principles and practices. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas and strategies to stakeholders at various levels. - Detail-oriented team player who consistently provides valuable suggestions and solutions in the delivery of products and services. - Possesses the ability to think both as a business professional and as a technical expert.
