Registered Nurse (RN) - Transport Team (Full Time, Nights)

Job Summary Clinical Nurse II is responsible for the planning and delivery of family‑centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The role directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards, collaborating with patient/family and professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient care delivery. The position is accountable for providing care for all pediatric and neonatal patients requiring medical Advanced Life Support (ALS) or medical Critical Care Transport (CCT) under the supervision and in collaboration with a CHOC Children’s Physician. Responsibilities Accurately assess, attempt to restore, and maintain the wellbeing of ill and injured pediatric or neonatal patients during intrafacility or interfacility ALS or CCT transport. Obtain and maintain competency in advanced scope of practice skills, including intubation, umbilical line placement, intraosseous insertion, needle thoracentesis, and resuscitation under the direction of the Transport Medical Director, Transport Clinical Director, and Transport Clinical Manager. Qualifications Experience: Minimum three (3) years of critical care nursing experience in NICU, PICU, Transport Team, or CVICU; at least one (1) year in a pediatric setting. Preferred: Five (5) years of critical care nursing experience in a pediatric inpatient hospital; Transport Team experience highly preferred. Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing; Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) within two (2) years of hire. Specialized Skills: Knowledge of family‑centered patient care appropriate to age, culture, and spiritual needs; excellent customer satisfaction and communication skills; ability to prioritize, complete duties timely, and work collaboratively; skill in accurate documentation and reports; ability to adapt to changing workload and staffing; capacity to set and evaluate goals aligned with highest standards; ability to promote teamwork and exceed customer expectations. Licensure: Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Provider – Advanced (NRP); Neonatal Resuscitation Provider – Essentials (NRP) – within four (4) months of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Registered Nurse – CA (RN). Preferred: Critical Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN); Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C‑NPT); Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN). Physical and Environmental Demands Functional demand: Medium to high energy level. Lifting and carrying 40–50 lbs., pushing/pulling 150–200 lbs., lateral transfer 150–200 lbs. Physical activities include bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use, repetitive motion, pinching/fine motor activities, pulling, reaching, standing, talking, tasting, twisting, walking, wrist positioning, and squatting/kneeling. Sensory requirements: color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision. Environment: exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, dust, extreme noise, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces or elevations. Compensation Minimum $56.96, Midpoint $74.05, Maximum $91.14 per hour, determined by factors including knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, and position requirements.
