Seeking compassionate and team-oriented Cooks to become a part of team. We're looking for one full-time cook and several PRN cooks for an assisted livng community. The kitchen operates 7 days a week. The PRN cook will primarily fill in during planned vacations. Starting rate of pay is $20.00 per hour.

The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and cleaning up after daily meals and snacks while helping maintain a clean, welcoming, and comfortable dining environment for residents. This position is about more than preparing meals. The Cook interacts with residents throughout the day and plays an important role in their daily dining experience. The ideal candidate will take pride in preparing quality meals, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, and treating residents with kindness, patience, and respect.

Duties and responsibilities

Report to the Kitchen Lead on all communications involving the kitchen.

Prep, cook, and serve three meals a day and snacks, according to established menus and schedules.

Complete food preparation in a timely and organized manner to ensure meals are ready and served as scheduled.

Completes advance food preparation of the week’s menu as directed by the Kitchen Lead.

Safely use all kitchen appliances and utensils.

Follow established food safety, sanitation, and food-handling procedures.

Properly store food and maintain clean and organized refrigerators, freezers, and food-storage areas.

Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and food preparation surfaces after each meal.

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen throughout the shift.

Clean and reset the dining room after each meal.

As a team, follow the mid-shift cleaning schedule each Wednesday:

clean drawer and under serving line

freezers and refrigerators alternating biweekly

pull out and clean the catch tray under six burner stove

clean stove backsplash

clean and sanitize three compartment sink

clean and maintain spice shelf trays and replace trays as needed

clean dinning room and kitchen rugs/mats.

Complete intermittent cleaning as directed/needed:

celling fans

walls behind food prep areas and dishwashing area

windowsills and baseboards

shelving

air conditioner vents in kitchen.

Maintain compliance with all state regulations and licensure standards at all times.

Responsible for reporting any unsafe condition or equipment problems immediately upon discovery to the Kitchen Lead. If able to remedy the unsafe condition, should do so immediately.

Provide attentive, friendly, respectful service to residents during meal service.

Observe and promptly report any resident issues, concerns, changes, or unusual behavior to the Kitchen Lead or Resident Care team.

Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.

Required to check company email once a day and respond as appropriate.

Interact professionally with residents, co-workers, and vendors.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
