About the Role:

The Mortgage Loan Originator plays a critical role in guiding prospective homebuyers through the mortgage application and approval process, ensuring a seamless and compliant experience from initial inquiry to loan closing. This position requires a deep understanding of residential mortgage products, to tailor financing solutions that meet clients' unique needs. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with borrowers, real estate agents, and underwriting teams to facilitate timely and accurate loan origination. By maintaining up-to-date knowledge of mortgage banking regulations and market trends, the Mortgage Loan Originator ensures adherence to industry standards and maximizes customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this role drives business growth by originating high-quality loans while fostering long-term client relationships within the Charleston, SC market.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Mortgage Loan Originator NMLS number.
• Proven experience in mortgage loan origination, specifically with residential mortgage products.
• Strong knowledge of mortgage banking practices, loan closing procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to analyze financial information and credit reports to determine borrower eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with VA loans.
• Familiarity with the Charleston, SC real estate market and local lending environment.
• Proficiency with mortgage loan origination software Encompass.
• Demonstrated success in building referral networks within the mortgage and real estate industries

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and pre-qualify potential borrowers by assessing their financial status, credit, and property evaluations.
• Guide clients through the mortgage loan application process, explaining various loan options.
• Coordinate with underwriters, processors, and closing agents to ensure timely and accurate loan approval and closing.
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local mortgage lending regulations and company policies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with real estate professionals and community partners to generate new business opportunities.
