We are seeking a PRE-OP/PACU RN to join our team! You will be responsible for the assessment, recovery, diagnosis, and treatment of assigned patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
- Log all findings in patient files
- Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
- Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
- Assesses patient and family needs in order to provide quality care
- Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes appropriately for optimal outcome
- Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate instructions to patient and family and appropriately answer questions.
- Appropriately adapts during rapidly changing pace and manages resources as needed to maintain patient flow.
- Develops, discusses, and communicates a realistic problem list (plan of care) for each patient, in collaboration with each patient, family, and significant other in order to address all identified needs.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, in order to ensure quality care.
- Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
- Functions as a role model for current and new staff.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors in a professional manner.
- Performs selected duties as delegated by the DON or others in authority.
- Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the center, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Education Minimum: Must possess a current (state) license as a Registered Nurse. A minimum of one to two years nursing experience.
- Required Licenses/Certifications : Current RN license. BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
- Bachelor’s degree and ASC experience
- Previous experience in nursing or other medical fields
- Familiarity with medical software and equipment
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, patients, physicians and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Computer Skills: Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using MS word, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Special Requirements: Must be able to work variable hours and be flexible to meet the needs of the center’s daily surgery schedule.
