AMC | Certified Medical Assistant - OB/GYN

Overview: Join a compassionate healthcare team supporting OB/GYN physicians and licensed medical staff in a busy outpatient clinic located in the Southeastern United States. This role involves both clinical and administrative duties, ensuring patients receive excellent care and support throughout their visits.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with obtaining patient vital signs and update medical records accurately.
Collect and process point-of-care lab and pathology samples following established protocols.
Perform quality and safety checks on testing equipment and supplies.
Provide patient education under provider guidance.
Administer treatments, dressing changes, medications, and therapies as ordered by licensed providers.
Support providers during procedures and examinations, including chaperoning and setup.
Handle and prepare reusable instruments for sterilization and dispose of biohazardous waste according to safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and safe patient care environment by adhering to infection prevention standards.
Manage front desk duties such as greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with coding and billing processes.
Coordinate with external healthcare partners to support patient care plans.
Monitor electronic communication systems and respond promptly to messages.
Perform components of well visits and scheduled nursing visits as directed.
Complete all required documentation prior to provider visits.
Perform high-level disinfection procedures and float to other clinics as needed.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program with successful completion of a nationally recognized certification exam (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
Preferred: At least 1 year of clinical experience in an outpatient setting.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations and activate emergency services.
Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers both in person and via phone.
Physical ability to perform clinical tasks including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Comfort with potential exposure to blood or other infectious materials.
