Job Description The University of Florida Veterinary Hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) provides Small Animal primary care, emergency services, and Equine sports medicine, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging services. A Veterinary Technician based in Small Animal services assists clinicians with routine and urgent examinations, treatments, clinical procedures, and hospitalization nursing care. The individual must possess a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine and enjoy learning new things. Availability of Shifts The hospital requires coverage 24 hours/7 days a week. Typical schedules consist of 8 or 10 hour shifts. The technician will be assigned to a primary shift—Day, Evening, or Night. Reassignment to a different primary shift, rotating shifts, split shifts, or extended shifts may be required. Assigned days may vary from Sunday through Saturday, including weekends and holidays. The position also requires working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or "on-call" duty. This individual is considered essential personnel and may be required to report to work during Main Campus closures. Minimum Qualifications Veterinary Technician I, Small Animal: High school diploma and two years of veterinary experience or one year of veterinary experience and currently enrolled in or graduate of a veterinary technician program. Veterinary Technician II, Small Animal: Credentialed veterinary technician and four years of veterinary experience. Expected Salary $18 - 25 per hour. Preferred Qualifications Veterinary Technician I, Small Animal: High school diploma and two years of veterinary experience or one year of veterinary experience and currently enrolled in or graduate of a veterinary technician program.
