Laboratory Technician (Entomology)

Job Overview Job Title: Entomology Laboratory Technician Location: Indianapolis, IN 46077 Duration: 12+ Months Contract Shift: Monday to Friday; 40 hours/week; 7:00am - 3:30pm Base pay range: $21.12/hr - $21.12/hr Pay Rate: $21.12/hr on W-2 (all inclusive) Summary: Wanted individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly detailed work. Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies. A strong safety culture requires adherence to all safety and ergonomic standards. Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided. Responsibilities Clipping/thinning plants used in testing. Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species. Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes. Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers. Preparation of media used in entomology testing. Scribing for evaluators. Requirements Self-driven individual that also works well in a diverse group setting. Flexibility to shift focus throughout the day as needed to meet customer demands. Willing to work independently and with a team as needed. Self-initiated and desire to learn. Strong communication and time management skills. Ability to follow directions and protocols. Must have work experience. Does not need to be related to lab work, but must have had any job previously.
