We’re looking for a Business Development Executive who thrives on turning strategy into results, building meaningful relationships, and driving measurable growth in a competitive market. This role is ideal for a sales professional who brings both strategic vision and operational discipline—someone who can create opportunities, execute with precision, and consistently deliver against ambitious membership and revenue goals. In this role, you are directly contributing to Blue Cross of Idaho’s mission—expanding access to healthcare while strengthening our presence across the state. Your ability to balance relationship-building with disciplined execution will fuel both immediate results and long-term growth. Your success will be measured by growth in membership, new business wins, and the strength of your broker and client partnerships. Location & Travel This position requires a local presence in Idaho and offers flexibility to work hybrid within an Idaho location. Travel and attendance at off‑site events is required, including outside of standard working hours. Responsibilities Develop and implement sales plans to achieve objectives for assigned product lines and/or market segments. Lead new sales of group products and services. Develop and deliver sales proposals and presentations. Enroll new members through prospecting, contacting, negotiating, and selling concepts, rates, and the organization’s unique value proposition to individuals, brokers, consultants, and/or groups. Retain, build, and strengthen relationships to generate future sales growth and maintain existing business with brokers, groups, individuals, and community partnerships. Participate actively in community and industry organizations. Identify opportunities to grow membership by evaluating reports of existing book of business, including historical trends, prospects, and specific products. Maintain sales tools with documentation of activities, call notes, prospect information, future tasks, and other required information to support the overall sales plan. Provide market feedback and information for sales forecasting. Monitor competitor activities and practices through accurate group and customer feedback and advise leadership. Review and verify data on business opportunities and market trends. Assess broker, customer, and/or client needs and suggest appropriate products and/or solutions. Assist account management with renewals and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Five (5) years of business development, sales, account management, or related experience within the health insurance industry. Experience in a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan environment preferred. Strong track record of health plan sales, a proactive and resilient mindset, and the ability to manage complex sales cycles with precision. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (two years’ relevant work experience is equivalent to one year of college). Active or eligible insurance license (health, life, and/or disability) or ability to obtain within 120 days of hire. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills. Compensation & Benefits The current base pay range is $106,762 to $160,144. The position is eligible to participate in a sales incentive pay program, which is variable based on performance.
