1st Shift 6:00AM - 2:30PM@ Monday-Friday

2nd Shift 3:00PM - 11:30PM@ Monday-Friday

3rd Shift 10:00PM - 6:30AM@ Monday-Friday

Pay Rate $38-42 per hour depending on experience

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of semi‑skilled and skilled tasks to maintain and repair facility equipment in a food processing environment. Working under general direction, this role ensures that all building systems and production equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The Maintenance Technician conducts preventative and reactive maintenance, supports equipment installations, and helps drive the overall operational performance and safety of the site.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties related to facility and equipment maintenance without routinely subcontracting work, taking ownership of repairs and upkeep.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of systems, including machine maintenance, equipment installs, electrical maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, facilities maintenance, and forklift maintenance.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of the building to identify, document, and complete items requiring attention related to the condition of the building and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with the approved preventative maintenance (PM) program.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment to support production and facility improvements.
• Maintain and follow OSHA and corporate safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all coworkers.
• Maintain equipment in a manner that supports high-quality production and maximizes efficiency and uptime.
• Perform proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safe servicing and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose equipment and system issues, determine root causes, and complete machinery repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and parts breakdowns as needed to support troubleshooting and repairs.
• Collaborate with operations and other departments to minimize downtime and coordinate maintenance activities.
• Complete other assignments as required within the scope of the role and personal abilities.

Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent GED.
• 3+ years of related maintenance experience with complete knowledge of the listed duties, including preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Hands-on experience as a maintenance mechanic or technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a mechanical mindset with the ability to think outside the box when troubleshooting.
• Ability to diagnose problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Experience with 3-phase motors and 480-volt electrical systems.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery.
• Ability to perform electrical maintenance safely and effectively within scope of training and qualifications.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cold-temperature environment, including production and freezer areas.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance needs.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation such as wiring diagrams and parts breakdowns (or strong aptitude to learn quickly).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical school, trade school, or vocational training in areas such as automotive, fabrication, electrical, HVAC, or plumbing is preferred.
• Experience working on processing machinery in the foodservice or food processing industry is a plus.
• Plumbing experience is a plus.
• HVAC experience is a plus.
• Ability to work with plumbing and HVAC systems in a production environment.
• Familiarity with facilities maintenance, including building systems and infrastructure.
• Experience maintaining forklifts or other material-handling equipment is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly about maintenance needs and progress.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food processing plant where you work directly around production equipment and facility systems. The environment is cold, with typical working conditions around 40 degrees Fahrenheit and periodic work in freezer areas at approximately 5 degrees. You work on processing machinery, facility infrastructure, and material-handling equipment, including systems involving 3-phase motors and 480-volt power. The position involves being on the production floor and in plant utility areas, following strict safety and cleanliness standards appropriate for food processing operations. Work hours follow plant operational needs, and you should be prepared for physical activity and wearing appropriate cold-environment and safety attire as required by plant policies.

This is a Permanent position based out of Swedesboro, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
